TEHRAN, Feb. 27 (MNA) – Counting of ballots cast in Iran's elections has been concluded in most of the polling stations related to the Parliament and Assembly of Experts.

Counting votes of polling stations has been concluded in 42,161 polling stations for Parliament elections and 44,607 for Assembly of Experts elections, after the election time being extended five times due to the nation's massive turnout.

Voting process started in Iran on Friday at 8 am local time in over 51,704 polling stations nationwide.

According to the latest statistics released, some 32 million eligible Iranians have participated in the elections of both chambers, which is being updated along with counting more votes across the country.

Some 54,915,024 Iranians were eligible to participate in the voting.

Counting is underway in Tehran province and some major provinces and cities, in some of which the election is likely to go to a second round.
